Have you been following LCFC Women?

I have been following the women so far this season but the truth is that it’s tough to support two teams that lose all the time.

The obvious point about the summer is that the Lionesses were good and exciting, which made it fun to follow them and easy to get new people involved. Leicester aren’t really either of those things: one own goal in the league so far is not going to get punters flying through the gates.

The second thing is that you need to know where to look to find coverage of the games. Cheap tickets are one part of it but people need to know when and where to follow them from afar, and where to read up on the games after.

I think the club and the league as a whole can do better at communicating this. How many people know you can watch WSL games for free and on demand on the FA Player?

The FA’s WSL website also stinks. So in the interests of promoting good stuff, I’ve found the Flying Geese newsletter is a nice (free) way to get a round up of the news and results from the WSL every week if you can’t watch the games.

I went to three games at Euro 2022 including the final and, along with putting together the WSL preview for this site, it really got me interested in how LCFC Women would do this season. I’ve been to the first two home games and will aim to watch away games when I can.

I thought the team was pretty unlucky in those games at home to Spurs and Villa, but the way we lost at Everton took things to a whole new level. Perhaps not unlucky, but certainly frustrating.

The atmosphere and vibe is obviously very different to the men’s games, but that’s not a bad thing. It gives you variety in experiencing watching a Leicester team play (okay, lose).

I’d definitely like to see more promotion of the women’s team’s games and how to follow them on TV and online. Winning would help more though. It’s going to be a tough season.

I took my daughter and a few of our friends to the Villa game, which we all enjoyed (apart from the result).

It was great value too, £8 for me, free for my daughter (under 8) and a fiver to park opposite the Fanstore. Would definitely recommend going and supporting them.

Having been to the Women’s Euro semi-final at Bramall Lane I told myself I’d get to a WSL game this season but haven’t managed to do so yet. I want to blame Brendan for making me hate football, when in reality it’s just because I’m lazy. I’ll probably get myself down to a game during the men’s World Cup to get my live football fix.

I'll keep tabs on the LCFC women's results these days, which is about as much as I manage in terms of following them but even that's more than I used to!

I play football myself, so with a number of Sunday fixtures it doesn't work too well logistically for me, but if they were on TV when I wasn't playing I'd definitely be more likely to have a watch.

Going down to a game would probably take my little brothers to show an interest if I'm honest. The time and energy used to watch the men's side, particularly at the minute, is more than enough for me personally right now!

Personally, although I try to watch as many games as possible, if I wasn't engaged, there's not much more the club can do to make it affordable, but the timing and promotion could still do with some work.

Progress is being made, but more promotion over the tannoy and on the screens at the King Power wouldn't hurt and would compliment featuring the women's team on the shop branding.
