The Fosse Way’s End of Season Awards 2024: Best Leicester City Moment of the Season
A season that had contained few standout moments over-delivered right at the end with some amazing nights we’ll remember for years.
What was your favourite moment of all?
Silencing The Hawthorns
Matt Jedruch
The stand out for me is Winks's winner away at West Brom.
No individual moment matched the pure elation of the quick counter ending with Winksy studding it home before going wild in front of the away end.
Boing Boing Baggie Resilience

I might be going against the grain with this one. I loved the whole day at Preston, some of the home wins were ridiculously entertaining. But I’m going for the win at home to West Brom in April. It wasn’t pitch perfect, sexy football but boy did we need it. Confidence in the stands was rock bottom, that 17-point lead entirely chipped away and the sour cherry on top of that cake was how bad the performances were at Plymouth and Millwall away in the week before.
It wasn’t quite a diversion to a plan B but the players banded together, dup deep and it’s the closest I think we’ve seen a Maresca side grind it out. It showed the players had what we needed to get back to the Premier League and gave us some excellent individual moments of heroism. Hamza Choudhury stole the headlines for his gladiator performance and the goal line clearances, but it was a team effort.
It wasn’t the moment that won us the league, but it made me believe we still had it in us.

For anyone who was there, surely Preston away was the moment of the season. I really didn't think we had an away end like that in us!
It was truly magnificent; unbelievable support, noise and inflatables! Yeah it's easy to sing when you're winning, but even so, it was amazing. An eclectic mix of relief and joy. Level with Bruges and Eindhoven in my own personal list.
Balloons and Knee Slides

Preston away. Pretty much any single moment from that night wins it, it felt really special and was a reminder why we do it. I've bottled up the whole night as one big moment that I'll enjoy for years to come.
The 'blue and white' pre-match display of balloons etc. The general atmosphere generated from the away end; something we are notoriously poor for in big allocations. Vardy falling over from smashing the ball in so hard from a yard out. The post match 'champions again' celebrations with the players. The players coming back for one more pitch slide. 'When You're Smiling' being played to top it off. Elite away day that will live long in the memory.
(Honourable mention goes to Abdul joining Patson Daka in doing a back flip to celebrate Daka's goal, it really made me laugh).
Saints go marching in - with their tails between their legs

Preston away was fantastic, life-affirming stuff but I’ll pick something different for variety.
I’d built up both games against Southampton in my head to be greatly concerning. The first one came off the back of our first slip-up, that 1-0 home defeat against Hull. The second, postponed due to our FA Cup progress, eventually arrived as our game in hand at the end of the season, and felt crucial as things tightened at the top.
That we ended up putting nine goals past one of this weekend’s play-off finalists was, in a way, extraordinary. But we simply looked like a better version of them and they were the two big games we turned up in.
After missing the away game while on holiday, the return fixture - amid the kind of evening kick-off atmosphere you’d forgotten we could create - was one to relish. We were utterly dominant and I loved every second of it.
