TFW Transfer Targets extra: Tetê

You might be wondering why chief Tetê cheerleader Alex Malpass didn’t include Leicester City’s new Brazilian in his recent round-up of right wingers the club should target in the January transfer window.

Here’s the thing.

He did.

We just missed it.

So to save Alex/Ric/Bean/Svenska’s reputation, here’s what we failed to print first time around (we’ll now let the TFW staff member responsible’s contract run down for the next 18 months before letting him leave on a free).

Tetê

Club: Leicester City

Age: 22 years old

Let's face it, left footed right wingers are the whole grail. The purveyors of Flair and ever since we were graced with Anthony Knockaert and then Riyad Mahrez have I been forever infatuated. Several years on and we still await a good enough replacement to Riyad. I will however leave no stone unturned in my pursuit of such a mercurial character.

I wasn't going to include Tetê, as I assumed he was out of reach. Tetê was Leicester's number 1 choice last season and even before the war in Ukraine broke out we wanted him. What escalated from there meant we tried to sign him outside of the transfer window but due to restrictions from the EPL and FFP concerns we couldn't do it and Lyon got him instead.

However, since Laurent Blanc has come in at Lyon, Tetê has been benched and rumours are circulating that we want him again in the region of £20-25m - a bargain if so. He's still only on loan and a deal could therefore still be done with Shakthar and Lyon.

Let's get this straight, he is pure sauce. Ridiculously skillful, rapid, scores goals, creates, he's everything we are so badly lacking from a conventional winger on that side of the pitch. Stats are out of this world.
