TFW Transfer Targets: 3 left-backs Leicester City should be scouting

With the January transfer window fast approaching, we’re turning our attention to possible targets for Leicester City - with money to spend, room for improvement and, perhaps most importantly, a Head of Recruitment now in position.

Alex Malpass has been scouring the globe to see where Leicester should be looking - starting with three young left-backs impressing across Europe.

Milos Kerkez

Club: AZ Alkmaar

Age: 18 years old

This kid is one of the most productive full-backs plying his trade in Europe this season, having scored 3 goals and 6 assists in 23 games in the Eredivisie and UEFA Conference League.

Kerkez has been unbelievable in his debut year in senior football, meaning AZ continue to be one of the hotbeds for developing young talented footballers having plucked him from Milan Under 19s.

He recently represented Hungary's senior side twice, who most notably have had big wins against England this year.

He's quick, features high in tackles and interceptions and is more lethal than most wingers in an attacking sense.

He's a 9/10.

Adrien Truffert

Club: Rennes

Age: 20 years old

Leicester fans will likely remember this name from last season.

He was one of Rennes’s best players over the two legs against us and we've incidentally since been linked with him. Once again, despite his age, he is showing strong end product both in defence and attack.

He comes out high in blocks and aerial duels but where he really excels is further up the pitch where he's in the 90%+ percentiles for assists and non-penalty goals, and not far off for dribbles and progressive carries.

A high-energy, dynamic attacking force, he would cost more than Kerkez but might be seen as less of a gamble. I'd go Kerkez but Truffert is destined for a bigger move.

8.5/10

Borna Sosa

Club: Stuttgart

Age: 24 years old

Anyone familiar with the stats site Fbref will do themselves a mischief looking at Borna Sosa.

He's in the upper 90th percentiles for assists, shot-creating actions, xG, progressive passes and progressive passes received.

He's got 7 assists this season in 12 appearances across all competitions and has been a regular for Croatia since making his debut just over a year ago.

I suspect he's destined for a big move in the next year, so we'd need to steal a march on those with bigger clout than us but it’s not out of the realms of possibility.

8.5/10
